For those of you suffering from cabin fever and who would like to get outside when the wind chill is not below zero, relief is in sight. Deirdre Fleming, the Outdoors Columnist for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram will speak on Thursday, March 30th at a special evening meeting of the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club. Her talk will be on ways to encourage children and youth to spend more time outdoors and some of her more interesting experiences related to being an outdoor writer.

Fleming has been the Outdoor reporter for the Portland newspapers for 16 years. She studied journalism in college and graduate school and fell in love with Maine during her first reporting job in Bangor. She has won countless awards and honors with the Maine Press Association, the Associated Press Sports Editors, and the Outdoors Writers Association of America. Her presentation will be at the Sanford Town Club (4 Washington Street, 4th Floor) on
Thursday, March 30th beginning with a reception at 5:30 PM. A $10 admission fee will be charged to cover the cost of appetizers provided by Above and Beyond Catering and a cash bar will be available. In order for the caterer to prepare, non-Rotarians are asked to call Jackie Roberts at 207-651-3538 to RSVP.
